Orange loves boxes. He loves playing with boxes, sleeping in boxes, even eating some boxes. Unfortunately, his current box, which is 1 foot x 1 foot x 2 feet, is a little too small.
“I need a box that’s 8 times as big!” he gasped one day. “The volume should be 8 times the size of this current box. What dimensions should I get for my new box?”
“Orange, I don’t think we’ll have space for that!” Grey exclaimed. “How big would that box be?”
“Let’s calculate. The area for finding the volume of a box is width x length x height right?” Orange questioned.
“That’s right!” Grey confirmed. “So the area of your box would be the width, 1 foot, multiplied by length, 1 foot, and height of 2 feet. That gives us 2 ft3.”
“What would happen if we doubled the side length of the box?” Orange wondered. “That would give us a 2 feet x 2 feet x 4 feet box.”
“If we wanted the volume, we would multiply 2 x 2 x 4, which gives us 16!” Grey gasped. “If we want the volume to be 8 times greater, we just have to double each side length.”
“I think we’ll have plenty of room for that!” Orange enthusiastically chimed.
Today, we learned about calculating the volumes of boxes, or rectangular prisms. For more practice, check out the Box Brevity practice!

Thanks for your valuable post. Over time, I have come to understand that the actual symptoms of mesothelioma cancer are caused by the actual build up connected fluid between your lining of the lung and the torso cavity. The condition may start from the chest place and spread to other body parts. Other symptoms of pleural mesothelioma include weight-loss, severe breathing in trouble, fever, difficulty ingesting, and puffiness of the neck and face areas. It really should be noted that some people living with the disease do not experience virtually any serious signs at all. Lulu Dominique Girardo
